A Raid on the Rangeview Raiders

Wrestlers take home their 5^th straight win of the season at Rangeview High School.

On December 10^th, TJ Wrestlers went to Rangeview with a mindset of winning and never giving up. They ended up taking the “W” with a score of 45-36.

“It was a close call and came down to the last match with Bennett Rodriguez winning his match in 33 seconds by pinning the guy,” said Head Coach Mike Laurita. This was a record win so far this season from Rodriguez, a sophomore on the team.

The players who earned the points for the team overall were seniors Spencer Ladd, Garmaa Shinebayar, and sophomores Elias Valenzuela, Layth Dieyleh, Noel Estrada,Hagen Coral, Corey Hernandez, Joe Johnson. “It would be nice to put out all the players on the team on the line up and have them all wrestle. We are trying to have them improve their grades and keep them in check of their weight,” said Laurita.

This was the last match the guys have before an invite that they are attending at Greely at the University of Northern Colorado. “There is a tough Northern Colorado Christmas Tournament coming up, so the guys need to get in as many wins as possible. It is a good practice for them, especially when they are going to be going up against some of the toughest competition in the country,” said Laurita.

The Northern Colorado Christmas Tournament is on December 17^th and 18^th at Greely.
