Michael Palmieri
Drama Teacher

I spent three years working on photo journalism in the seventies. I was also into sports cars, and spent 1980-1990 as service manager at Ralph Schomp BMW. I realized the call on my life to teach when I began teaching high school Sunday school, went back to school, and began teaching in DPS in 1990, and I have loved every minute since (10 years @ TJ; 26 years in DPS.) I taught for eleven years at Martin Luther King, then moved to Manual High School, where I became theatre director in 2004 and fell in love with the stage. Directing highlights have been Fences and Marisol at Manual, and Chicago, Moon Over Buffalo, RENT, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Little Shop of Horrors, Macbeth 2012, Lend Me A Tenor, and The August Wilson Project at TJ. The RenT ProJect at TJ is a highlight reel for me. The cast and crew served over 600 hours at the Denver Rescue Mission, Children's Hospital, and the Colorado Aids Project. I am currently sharing all I learned directing on the big stage with young people in my five theatre classes. I am literally a guy living the dream.

Heartfelt thanks and love to these supporters of TJ Theatre for their generous donations in support of the technical renovations to our Black Box Theater : Ms. Morris-Shearer (TJ Funds) , The DPS Foundation, TJ Partners, The Tattered Cover, Tom and Lisa McGee, Bob and Kristen Raskopf, Dr. Ndudi Operaeche.

Current Interests : family, photography (lining up two photo shows now), writing (check out my autobiography when it is published), travel (Italy is my favorite), TJ (I love TJ), and reading.
