The week before Spring Break will honor spring athletes and give students a chance to display their Spartan pride.
Thomas Jefferson’s Leadership class has organized a spirit week and pep assembly in order to recognize TJ’s hardworking spring athletes, along with leading the school into Spring Break. Spirit week will begin on the week of Monday, March 21st, with the pep assembly occurring on Friday, followed by TJ’s second annual Night Out.
Each day of the week will have a different theme, so Spartans have plenty of options in which to show their school spirit. Monday will be USA Day, so students are encouraged to break out all of their red, white, and blue. Tuesday is Dynamic Duo Day, a great day for besties to creatively show their pride. During lunch on Tuesday, these Duos can be judged in a contest or participate in a wild three legged race. Wednesday is Awkward Family Photo Day (commonly known as Wacky Tacky Day), where students do not have to worry about sporting matching outfits; in fact, the weirder the better. There will also be a photo booth where Spartan “families” can take a family portrait and post it to social media. Thursday will be Battle of the Sexes Day, in which girls will be wearing blue, while boys will wear pink. There will also be a tug-of-war contest during lunch between the classes as well as the sexes. Finally, Friday is TJ Day, the ultimate time to show Spartan pride. Following 8th period, TJ’s Spring pep rally will occur, and Night Out will offer a chance to celebrate and relax after school hours.
Spirit week will be a nice way to prepare for Spring Break, and to display support for TJ’s spring athletes. “Spirit week is always super fun and it’s nice that us spring athletes are able to get recognition,” commented Abloi Ater, a sophomore track athlete. Spirit week will be a busy and exciting way to kick off a much needed break for everyone.
