On Thursday, September 10th and Friday September 11th, 2009 at 6:00 pm, at the West Side Teen Center (1498 Julian St., Denver), Girls Inc. will be holding an open house for any young women who wish to obtain more information on the different programs, the teen center, or on the great teen staff the organization has to offer.

Girls Inc. is a national nonprofit youth organization dedicated to preparing young women to lead successful, independent, and fulfilling lives and provides them with vital educational programs, particularly those in high-risk, under-served areas.

The Girls Inc. movement started in New England during the Industrial Revolution as a response to the needs of a new working class: young women who had migrated from rural communities in search of newly available job opportunities in textile mills and factories. Along with a strong background of inspiring independence throughout the female community, Girls Inc. develops research-based informal education programs that encourage girls to take risks and master physical, intellectual, and emotional challenges.

The open house will be introducing new programs for girls between 12-19 years of age. The invite extends out to parents, teachers, counselors, and the rest of the community that is interested in attending.

Along with new programs, the open house staff will be conducting different activities in which the attendees can participate and win free gifts. If there are any further questions, Teen Program Coordinator Camille Gallegos can be contacted by phone at 303-893-4363 X127.
