Spartan Soccer has trouble defeating South High School, losing 4-1.

The Spartan soccer players faced a tough loss on Thursday against the Rebels of South High School, with a disappointing score of 4-1.
The boys started the game with confidence, as Senior Forward Corey Rowe scored a quick goal against the Rebels within the first few minutes. Unfortunately the momentum did not stick with them, and no more goals came from the Spartans. “We played pretty flat, and just looked uninspired,” said Varsity Coach Jon Poole. That lack of inspiration did not serve the guys well, and South put away four goals by the end of the game.
With new faces on the field and a younger defense, the defensive line struggled with keeping the Rebels out of Spartan territory. Key players on the team were either missing or injured, which didn’t help either. “We had them in the beginning. We just lost it, and could not communicate with each other. We’ll get them next time!” said Senior Midfielder Freddy Contreras.
The realization of how important the next games are came from Poole after the game. “We have created a pretty difficult situation for ourselves here. One more loss and we have no chance at making the playoffs,” Poole said. With four more games to go in the season, the boys continue to keep their heads held high, pursuing a win.
The soccer boys play once again on Tuesday, October 12th against North High School at 4:00 p.m. at North. The team will need all the support they can get, so make sure to be there and cheer on your fellow Spartans!
