Girls' Basketball Drops First Two Games

TJ’s Lady Hoop Squad has trouble adjusting, as they fall to both Harrison High and Kent Denver.

On Wednesday, December 1st, the TJ Girls’ Basketball team traveled to Harrison High School at 7:00 p.m., unfortunately losing with a score of 59-26.

The Lady Spartans had a rough start to the season, as they just couldn’t manage to bring back a “W,” as intensity lacked in their first game. “We started out really slow and had trouble executing our offense. We finally managed to settle down in the 3rd quarter, but it was just too little too late,” said Head Coach Steve Thomas.

The following Saturday, the Lady Spartans took on Kent Denver right here at TJ, also losing, this time with a score of 55-32. “I think we did a lot better in this game than our first game. We’re still adjusting, but we’re beginning to learn the plays better. There’s always room for improvement,” said Senior Guard Casey Edelman.

The girls started out strong, gaining a four-point lead in the first quarter; however, the momentum didn’t quite stick with them, as they began to lose possession of the ball as the game went on. “We got ahead of them in the first quarter, but missed a lot of shots we would normally hit, and just couldn’t get back on track. We’re hoping to come out of that shell in the next few games to come,” Thomas said.

If you missed the last two games, no need to worry. The girls play again tonight against Green Mountain High School at 7:00 p.m. at Green Mountain. The girls could always use some fans so be sure to head up there and cheer them on, TJ.
