On Sunday, September 21, 2008 hundreds of fans gathered at the Bluebird Theater to watch the up-and-coming rap artist Shwayze put on a great show.
At 7 pm, an hour before the show was scheduled to start, fans were lined up on Colfax Ave. waiting anxiously to see their idol.
Tickets were a mere $22 and were available online, at certain retail stores, and at the box office as well. Fans looking for tickets over the weekend or the day of would be let down because the concert was sold out in advance.
Shwayze’s opening act was the young rap artist Tyga. Once it was time for the main act to appear on stage, the crowd was more than ready. Shwayze performed his most popular tunes off the new self-titled album Shwayze. Some of those songs include Buzzin’, Roamin’, and Hollywood.
Aaron Smith was born in 1986 and grew up in the less prosperous parts of Malibu, California. While out with friends one night, Smith decided to perform on stage and was finally discovered and his career took flight. Cisco Adler became Smith’s producer, but not before much persistence from him. The two started working together and got more out of it than they expected.
As their fame continued to grow, so did the number of top singles the two produced. “Buzzin’” entered at #86 on Billboard Hot 100 and slowly climbed up to #46. This was only the start to a rewarding career Shwayze had long been ready for.
Shwayze’s unique clever rap lines and catchy acoustic rock melodies offer his fans a new sound. A mix of hip-hop beats with a touch of acoustic rock is what gives Shwayze his individuality.
