DPS Recruits Female Students for Website Design and Application Development.
Did you know that the average salary for a web designer or app developer is more than $80,000 per year? Now is your chance to learn how you can become one!
Imaginarium is selecting 8 Denver Public School female students to learn website design and application development. If you will be in 8th grade or high school in the 2015 – 2016 school year and you have a curiosity for design and coding, apply today to be a part of the Imaginarium iSquad for students. If you’re selected, you’ll get training, materials, and a laptop to participate in four design challenge events where you take an idea for an educational website or application and build a model.
All training camps and design challenge events are mandatory to attend if you’re selected.
iSquad Training Camps: There will be four training camps. Each training camp will be on a Saturday from 10AM – 4PM, tentatively scheduled for October and November 2015 as well as February and April 2016.
We’ll kick off with what it takes to design for large and small screens—from desktops to smartphones. You’ll start to use tools and techniques to create websites and applications and get introduced to coding. In subsequent sessions, you’ll practice creating your own website or application and prepare for design challenge events.
In between training camps, you’ll be responsible for practicing what you’ve learned.
Design Challenges: There will be four design challenge events. Each design challenge event takes place on an evening and all day the next day. At design challenge events, students, staff and parents in Denver Public Schools pitch their idea for an educational website or app. You will help design, create, and model their idea using your newfound design and coding skills.
The design challenge events are tentatively scheduled for November and December 2015 as well as February and April 2016.
