TJ baseball defeats Ralston Valley on Thursday with a score of 9-4.

The Spartan baseball team took on a top 10 5A team in Ralston Valley on Thursday, March 24th and came out with the win and a final score of 9-4.
The Spartans started the game with Senior Ace Kyle Freeland on the mound, needing an all-star performance from their pitcher if they wanted to top the Ralston Valley Mustangs, who are ranked #8 in Colorado 5A at this point in the season. Freeland rose to the occasion, and had a stand-out performance in this game, pitching six solid innings with 14 strikeouts and giving up only three runs to the high powered Mustang offense. “We needed Kyle to pitch well in this game, and he did exactly that which is a big part of why we won,” said Senior Joe Sedig.
The Spartans also continued their great work at the plate, and got ahead early in the game. The Spartans had two runs in the first inning, and gave some real cushion to their lead in the 4th inning when they drove in five additional runs. Senior Grant Maloney and Kyle Freeland both made the trip to home plate twice, and Junior Evan Walter hit the Spartans’ only home run.
Next up for the Spartans is league opponent West who they play at home, today, March 25th at 4:15.
