The Boys’ Soccer Team ends the week strong with two wins against Aurora West College Prep Academy, 5-2, and Brighton High School, 3-2.

On Tuesday, September 6th and Thursday, September 8th, the boys’ soccer team came out with a win against Aurora West College Prep Academy and Brighton High School, while coming up from behind in the first half.
Even though they did not come out strong the first half, they picked themselves up and pulled through to earn a victory of 5-2 against Aurora West. Freshman Edward Yepes scored a hat trick, and Juniors Michael Mahoney and Damion Daniels scored the other two goals. “We were down in the first half, but we came back with some real energy,” said Mahoney.
The win left the boys on a positive note, and they went into their next game on Thursday against Brighton with confidence. Although the game started off the same as Tuesday’s game, losing the first half, the boys were able to pull off the victory, winning 3-2. “We were playing down in the first half, but lit the fire at the start of the second half. We scored the three goals and were able to hold off Brighton for the win,” said Mahoney. Again Daniels and Yepes scored, and Senior Mitch Moore also scored a goal.
The double victory leaves the boys in good shape. So far they have only lost one game, and they have won two. They are anticipating a successful season, and the next game boys are playing will be on Monday, September 12th at Overland High School at 3:30 p.m. Be sure to go out and supports your fellow Spartans!
