Boys’ soccer loses to Overland, at Overland on Monday, September 12th with a score of 4-1.

On a hot and sunny Monday afternoon, September 12th, the boys’ soccer team competed strongly against Overland High School on Blazer territory, but could not pull through with a win, losing a tough 4-1.
The boys started off strong and only allowed one in goal in the first half. The boys kept their heads up and went into the second half with confidence, but the luck began going down hill for the Spartans. “Unfortunately, we had a few mishaps and just got really unlucky in the second half. We slipped and they took advantage of our flaws,” Senior Gabe da Silva stated.
With missed opportunities and failed shots on goal, the guys continue to fall short to Overland. “We kept going strong, but with a couple of missed assignments, we allowed more goals,” Junior Ty Roder said. Finally, Junior Ahmed Adam scored the lone goal on a free kick in the closing minutes of the game, breaking up the shutout for the Spartans.
Coach Jon Poole spoke very positively about the opponents, and about the game. ”Overland is a good squad, and they are very underrated,” Poole said. Overland has now won four games, lost one game, and tied one game. “We played closer than the score indicated, and I am satisfied with how the boys played. It was just an unlucky game.”
The team hopes that the luck picks up for the them when they come face to face with Standley Lake High School, Thursday, September 15th on Spartan turf at 4:00.
