Boys’ soccer couldn’t pull off the “W” on Thursday, September 15th, against Standley Lake, and lost again on Tuesday, September 19th against East.

The mighty Spartans were defeated on September 15th by Stanley Lake Hgih School, with a final score of 2-0. “It was just a frustrating game,” Head Coach Jon Poole said.
Senior Mateo Rocha agrees with his coach. “We were all frustrated, and we just could not build a concrete play,” Rocha said. He believes that the team had a chance at winning but they were not able to come together like they usually do, which played a large part in their loss.
The next game the boys played was against long time rival, the East Angels. The team went out and played their best against the Angels. “We all played a pretty awesome game,” Senior Gabe da Silva states. The game was close, each team fighting for the ball, until the Angels got possession and made their one and only goal, leaving the score 1-0. “There was almost nothing negative about the game until we slipped up and allowed them to score,” said da Silva.
Poole was proud of the boys at the end of the game. “They showed outstanding effort. They also showed the character of the team; and if we can play like that, we can win the rest of our games this season,” Poole said.
The Spartan soccer team is back at it again on Thursday, September 22nd, against Pomona on the turf field at 4:00 p.m. They are ready to compete and put up a good fight, so go out to support them and cheer them on.
