The Girls’ Soccer team ties Lincoln in double overtime.

On Thursday, March 22, the TJ Girls’ Soccer Team went head to head against Lincoln High School in their first league game of the year with a tie score of 1-1.

“The girls practiced hard for that game and they did everything they were told,” said Head Coach Sara Andolsek.

Going into halftime, the girls were down one goal, but came into the second half with the desire to win.  With 18 minutes left in the game, Senior Mallory Lopez scored the tying goal off of a corner kick by Junior Braelah McGinnis.  With the score tied, the girls went into overtime.

The score remained the same for the five minutes played in the overtime, and the girls went into their second overtime.  The five minutes ended, and the girls finished the game with the tie score.  “Most of us were still learning the new formation on the field, but we did what we were coached to do and we played hard,” said Junior Rachel Uyemura.

The girls were scheduled to play the George Washington Patriots, but due to the snowy weather, the game was cancelled.  Their next game with be against the Denver East Angels on Friday, April 6^th on Spartan turf at 4:00 pm.  Be sure to go out and support your Lady Spartans, for this will be a big game against their rivals.
