TJ Football – brand new to the 3A conference this year – beats Littleton and JFK to have its best start in five years.

“It’s the first time since 2007 to win our opening game, and that year we went 11-0! What a great start in a new division and a new league,” said an enthusiastic Assistant Head Coach Matt Nicolo, of the newly ranked #7, 3A Spartan Football team. The Spartan team brought home the win against Littleton High School last week, with a score of 35 to 14. Even after being down 7-0 after the first quarter, the Spartans showed their offensive might by scoring all 35 points in the next two quarters. Sheik Kamara lead the team with two rushing touchdowns and 127 yards on the ground. The boys proved that working together as a team brings great success.
In game two of the season, the Spartan boys brought home the win once again, this time against John F. Kennedy High School, with a score of 19-7. Kennedy was in the lead by seven points in the 1st and 2nd quarters, but the boys picked up the slack 3rd quarter and led the team to victory. After sitting the first quarter, Senior quarterback Nick Lednev was put in the game and lead the team with a touchdown through the air to senior receiver Abraham Woldu. Kamara showed up once again, with 96 yards an another rushing touchdown.
The next scheduled game for the Spartans is against old time rivals, the Montbello Warriors (1-2). The Warriors come into the game with standout out receiver Marquell Jones posing a threat to the outside.
