Spartans fall to Frederick Warriors on Senior night, capping their first 3A season without a playoff berth.

On a brisk Saturday afternoon, the Spartans looked to finish off the 2012 season strong, but they could not pull out the win, losing to the Frederick Warriors 37-13.
Early on Frederick capitalized on the Spartans’ mistakes and put up multiple scores. This week the Spartans found themselves troubled on defense by both the running attack and passing efforts. In the second half, the Spartans found a spark and put up a running touchdown in the third quarter, and a passing touchdown to Senior Wider Receiver Deondré Kary in the fourth. Frederick continued to wear down the Spartans and also scored in both the third and fourth quarter. On senior night, the Spartans went out on a down note, falling 37-13 to a ranked 3A team.
This season has provided ups and downs for the Spartans. In the first year of competing at the 3A level for football, the Spartans had high hopes at the onset. Some close games early on continued to haunt the team as the season wore on. The season started off strong with wins in the first two games, but after that the Spartans lost four of their last six contests, ending at 4-6 on the season. “The season was great. Although we didn’t go to state, we still had a fun season. All the seniors really helped me and the others. I’m really going to miss this team. All the coaches never let us give up, and inspired us to do our best,” stated Sophomore Quarterback Obed Munoz. As the senior class departs, many will remember TJ football as a family that stuck together through the tough times and prevailed to conquer many tests that were given.
