The TJ hoop squad begins season with three tournament wins, along with first home win.

This past weekend the TJ boys’ hoop squad played in the Boulder Valley Invitational at Centaurus High School and stole the show.
Beginning the on Wednesday, December 5th, the Spartans completed against Poudre High School and came out on top, with a score of 53-48. The leading scorer was Senior Aaron Hendricks, who cashed in a total of 15 points for the Spartans. This put the Spartans into the winners bracket, where they would played Rampart High School.
On Friday, December 7th, the boys blew out the Rampart Rams 63-38. The Spartans outscored them 20-10 in the fourth quarter with the leading scorer being Junior Treyvon Andres with 18 points, along with seven rebounds. This win placed them in the tournament final. The next day the team beat Loveland High School 62-53 with Senior Eric Andres equaling a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing ten rebounds. This secured the tournament title for the Spartans and got their season off to a great start with a 3-0 record. Another shout-out goes to the JV team who also won the Boulder Valley Invitational. “The Tournament went great. Varsity and JV both won their respective brackets out of a total of 8 teams. It’s always a great thing to start the season off with a tournament championship,” stated Head Coach Grant Laman.
On Tuesday, December 11 the hoop squad took on Manual High School and came out with the victory of 62-43. The leading scorer was Junior Treyvon Andres, who scored 17 points and had 14 rebounds. “The game was sloppy, and was a typical early season game for us. There is definitely room for improvement,” said Laman. The Spartans’ record on the season is now 4-0. Up next,TJ will square off against D’Evelyn, who is ranked #3, right in front of the Spartans who are #4 in the 4A basketball polls. The game will take place at D’Evelyn High School at 7:00pm on Friday December, 14th.
