The TJ hoop squad lost to John F. Kennedy, and beat Denver South in a rematch.

On Tuesday, January 29th the Spartans played John F. Kennedy High School in a road matchup and fell 67-63. Seniors Aaron Hendricks and Katrell McAfee led the Spartan scoring effort with 11 points each. Sophomore Joshua McNair was able to pull down seven rebounds. The Spartans played tough for the whole game, but couldn’t come through with the win.
That Friday, February 1st the hoop squad met up with league rivals Denver South after only losing by two the previous matchup in January. The boys took multiple big leads throughout the game and came through with a 56-50 victory. Senior Eric Andres had one of the biggest games of his career with 29 points and 17 rebounds. “Eric played huge for us. We handled their full court pressure quite well and were able to rebound both on the offensive boards and defensive,” stated Head Coach Grant Laman. The hoop squad’s record stands at 11-7 on the season and 2-2 in league. The Spartans’ next game is Tuesday, February 5th against Montbello High School at TJ at 7 p.m.
