On Friday, February 1st, the Lady Spartans headed back to Manual High School after the B-League Meet to finish their season at the DPS A-League Meet.

The girls were able to place fifth overall, with West High School only 11 points ahead in fourth place.  “Everyone performed their season best in prelims, but coming back for the finals we fell a little short on performance,” explained Head Coach Cindy Allen.

Rachel Uyemura, Juliana Alford, Tatianna Gerlits, Sarah Orr, Cassie Kah, Sophomores Angelica Hawley, Savannah Orth, and Julia Turnlow were the swimmers for TJ during the meet.  “Both Juliana performed really well as well as Sarah,” commented Allen.  The Spartans were able to return to the finals in every event except for the 500 Freestyle.  In every event, there was one swimmer for TJ that placed in the top 12.  All the swimmers were in the consolation heat, except for the relay teams.  The 200 Medly Relay team placed 6th at the finals, and the 200 Freestyle Relay team placed 5th at finals.  In addition, the 400 Free Relay team placed 5th in finals.

The divers had a good meet as well.  Freshman Abby Hoffman, Sophomore Carmen Hernandez, and Uyemura competed in the diving competition, with Hernandez as the top TJ diver, coming in 7th out of the final 11 with a score of 205.95.

Overall, Allen said she was pleased with how the season went.  “We had triple the athletes from the previous year, and they all worked really hard,” stated Allen, who said they went over some fine-tuning items, and were getting prepared for A-League.  “Watching the girls apply those things we talked about in the meets was just awesome,” said Allen.
