The girls’ soccer team is retired in the first round of the playoffs.

On Tuesday, May 7th, the Spartan soccer team headed to Edwards, Colorado where they played Battle Mountain in the first round of the playoffs.
The girls had high hopes for the game, considering they had a similar record. Throughout the game Junior Makayla Veasley had 17 saves and only allowed three goals.
Come halftime, Battle Mountain had a 2-0 lead over the Spartans. In the second half, they were only able to score one goal. It was in the second half that Sophomore Kelly Cordes scored the lone goal for the Spartans. “In all four years I’ve been at TJ, we have never scored a goal in a playoff game, so having Kelly score that first game in both the game and in a playoff game was really exciting,” said Senior Rachel Uyemura. The score of the game was 3-1, ending in a loss for TJ.
The soccer season is now over for the girls, but looking back, it was a successful season. Overall, they ended with a winning record of nine wins, four losses, and one tie. Their league record was five wins, one loss, and one tie, securing the number one spot in the 4A Denver Prep League, and the number two spot in the 5A/4A Denver Prep League.
