The boys’ basketball team had a great showing vs. Arvada West, and needless to say this win was a great morale booster.
The scoring for the Spartans was lead by junior standout Ray Riley, who contributed 19 points, more than 33% of the Spartans’ total. “Ray had it going, but this really was an example of a team game,” commented Head Coach Grant Laman. Junior Chris Carter also had a grand showing, notching 14 points. The third member of the junior trio, Billy Sprague, had eight points, shooting three of three from the free throw line. Jamel Compton had a good night on the court too, scoring eight points.
Even after a great win, the Spartans are not done chugging along. TJ will continue play at the Green Mountain Tournament when they play the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles at Green Mountain Friday night. It should be a great game with a lot of action.
