TJ continued its winning ways Friday night, defeating Lincoln by a score of 70-67.

The Spartans battled hard all night long, and that is what truly propelled them to victory.
The game started off very erratically, but soon both teams were able to control their emotions, and settle into a good rhythm. The Lancers played very aggressively, and trapped the Spartans throughout the game. But Spartan Guards Shane Oliver, Cedric Penn, and Ray Riley began to break down the Lancer press, which resulted in easy points for the Spartans.
The only negative that can be taken from this game is the Spartans had an alarming amount of misses from the free throw line. The Spartans making 13 of 24 from the charity stripe, good for only a 54% conversion rate. However, the Lancers did almost as poorly, making 17 of 28, for a 61% conversion rating.
The Spartans offensively were lead by Riley and Chris Carter, who scored 18 and 7 points respectively. Junior Forwards Jamel Compton and Billy Sprague also helped out, scoring 10 points each as well.
The Spartans’ next game is probably the most important game of the year. The Spartans will be hosting the East Angels at 7:00 on Tuesday night, so come out and root on your Spartans as they square of against the Angels at the Spartan Gym.
