NHS fundraiser sells valentines for a cure.
TJ’s National Honor Society is teaming up with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to raise money selling valentines all this week.
This NHS fundraiser began last year. Materials such as paper and candy are donated to the club, and from there the members construct and assemble valentines. Each of the valentines will be hand delivered on Friday.
NHS and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society have set up a fundraiser at TJ to support the goal to end blood cancer by the year 2015. All proceeds obtained by selling valentines will go directly to the fund.
Sales will take place Wednesday and Thursday at lunch and after school in front of the office. NHS stresses that the valentines can be sent to anyone: friends, teachers, or sweethearts. “It seems to be a fun way to acknowledge people in the building on Valentine’s Day while contributing to a very important cause,” said NHS Advisor Eileen Adair.
When purchasing the card, students should know the recipient’s fourth period class. There is also room for a personal message if it is so desired. On each card NHS members will attach a piece of candy in the spirit of the holiday.
Monticello, TJ’s advanced choir group, has decided to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma fundraiser by contributing a song performed live for the recipient for only two extra dollars. During lunch and after school, you can sign up for a “Val-o-gram” at the NHS table.
The cards with candy will be sold for $1 and the musical valentine will cost $3. They can be purchased in the front of the office before or after school and during lunch.
