Thomas Jefferson hosts its annual fall Art Show to kick off the month of December.
From December 1-4, TJ will host its fourth annual fall Art Show at TJ in the room 111. This display gives TJ’s artists a chance for their work to be seen and appreciated by the TJ community. The Art Show will be open during the lunch hour as well as on the 1st and 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.. After the first week of December the exhibit will be moved to the Department of Transportation building on December 9th, and will be showcased until January 8th to be seen by the Denver community.
The show will consist of artwork from both Drawing and Ceramics classes. Over 250 pieces of artwork will be displayed. Drawing pieces will vary from black and white and ink drawings to ancient symbol drawings, self portraits, and 3D drawings, while ceramics pieces will include hand-built pieces, vases for charities, handcrafted glazed tusk tiles, and senior thesis pieces. The fall art show is highly anticipated by art students and pushes them to improve their work. “Events like the fall art show help motivate me to do well in class for the fact of getting my work in the show as well as to get inspiration from others.” added junior Alexandra Creswell.
For the past four years, art teacher Leonard Fox has been in charge of the show. “I’ve been here for four years and every year the quality of the work just keeps getting better and better,” he commented. “I’m super excited. It’s always a fun time for students to come and see their work and their peer’s work, as well as get inspiration,” added ceramics teacher Layce Nichols.
Fox and Nichols, as well as TJ’s artists, are thrilled to showcase their hard work to the TJ community. All members of the TJ community are invited and encouraged to see the quality work displayed by talented Spartan artists.
