The National Canter for Women & Information Technology’s mission is to ensure that women are fully represented in the influential world of information technology and computing. The award is given to individuals who have demonstrated leadership in the area of information technology. Gant, Canizalez, and Danek have all been leaders in the Computer Magnet, creating entrepreneurial businesses and social enterprise solutions to suit community needs through the leveraging of technology. These ladies worked last summer to create and deliver a summer camp for girls to introduce them to technology, leadership, the Computer Magnet and DPS.
Gant was overjoyed to win the award. “I am very honored, because the award is based on technology and I feel that I have improved in this field, and it’s nice to be recognized for my improvement,” she said.
Gant, Canizalez, and Danek were honored at the NCWIT”s national conference which consisted of an international crowd from industry, Fortune 500 companies, and the CU faculty on May 15th at the ATLAS building on the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado.
