Dear Thomas Jefferson High School Families:
It is our priority to keep you informed of incidents related to student safety. This letter is to let you know that we are aware of a note that has been circulating on social media about a potential threat made against our school. Additionally, we received the same information via anonymous Safe2Tell messages.
We called Denver police and the DPS Department of Safety to investigate. Law enforcement found no reason to believe that the threat was credible in any way. At no time were our students or staff in any danger. Please understand that we do not take threats lightly. For that reason, we decided to have an additional Denver police and DPS Department of Safety presence on campus today.
Additionally, there were some separate disciplinary incidents with students on campus today, however I would like to assure you that they were not connected to the threat that was made and the students involved will be disciplined in accordance with the DPS Code of Conduct.
We would like to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students is our No. 1 priority. Our school works closely with the Department of Safety and the Denver Police Department to report all safety incidents that occur at our school and anything suspicious that may occur in the neighborhood.
Families, please take this opportunity to review safety messages with your students and encourage them to always report anything that doesn’t seem right to a school staff member. In order to maintain a safe environment, it is critical that students and others feel comfortable reporting to the appropriate adults when they know there are weapons in schools or activity that concerns them. We encourage all students and community members to report to us, or Safe2Tell, immediately any suspicious activity or concerns.

Estimadas familias de la Escuela Preparatoria Thomas Jefferson:
Nuestra prioridad es mantenerlos informados sobre los incidentes que se relacionan con la seguridad estudiantil. La presente es para informales que nos enteramos de que hay una nota circulando en las redes sociales sobre una amenaza a nuestra escuela. Además, hemos recibido la misma información a través de un mensaje anónimo de Safe2Tell.
Llamamos a la policía de Denver y al Departamento de Seguridad de DPS para que llevaran a cabo una investigación. Las autoridades no tienen motivos para creer que esta amenaza sea real. Nuestros estudiantes y personal escolar no corrieron ningún peligro. Queremos que entiendan que tomamos las amenazas muy seriamente. Por tal motivo, hemos decidido tener a un oficial de policía adicional y a miembros del Departamento de Seguridad en nuestro campus el día de hoy.
Adicionalmente, hoy tuvimos dos incidentes estudiantiles distintos en nuestro campus; sin embargo, quiero asegurarles que no tuvieron nada que ver con la amenaza y que los estudiantes involucrados serán disciplinados según el Código de conducta de DPS.
Tengan la certeza de que la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestros estudiantes es nuestra prioridad principal. Nuestra escuela trabaja estrechamente con el Departamento de Seguridad y con el Departamento de Policía de Denver para informar de todos los incidentes de seguridad que tengan lugar en nuestra escuela y de cualquier actividad sospechosa que ocurra en el vecindario.
Les pedimos a las familias que aprovechen esta oportunidad para repasar los mensajes sobre la seguridad con sus hijos y anímenlos a hablar con un integrante del personal escolar siempre que vean algo que les resulte sospechoso. Para mantener un ambiente seguro, es de suma importancia que los estudiantes y otras personas sientan la confianza de informar a los adultos correspondientes cuando saben que hay armas en la escuela o cuando existe algún tipo de actividad que les preocupe. Instamos a todos los estudiantes y los integrantes de la comunidad a que nos informen inmediatamente, o a Safe2Tell, sobre cualquier actividad sospechosa o inquietud.
