The TJ track team traveled to Jefferson County Stadium to take part in the 4A State meet.
The Spartans attack was lead by Junior Jared Lewis and Senior Efrem Woldu. Lewis finished 3rd in the 100 meter dash, and Woldu finished in fifth place in both the long jump and the 400 meter dash. “We had a good day, and I am proud of both Efrem and my accomplishments,” said Lewis.
The Spartans will lose many senior boys next year, including Torian Chavis, David Crammer, Vincent Crespin, Jalil Debose, Brandon Lowe, Joseph Madlock, Jordan Pruitt, Jiron McMillon, and Efrem Woldu. The Spartans will also be losing four girls off of the team in Karina Desroses, Sabrina Harris, Andrea Qualls, and Krystal Kelly. Yet, even with the loss of 12 seniors in total, the Spartans remain very optimistic about next year’s opportunities. “It was a great experience this year. I really enjoyed being around all of my teammates. Now I know what I have to do to win next year,” stated Lewis.
The team will look to defend their city championship in the 2010 season.
