2009/2010 TJ Journal appoints new positions and welcomes newcomers to the staff.
Some readers will not recognize the many unfamiliar names in the bylines of each new Journal article, for the fall 2009 semester has produced a plenitude of fresh staffers.
The graduation of the 2009 seniors forced a farewell to the Journal’s previous top newsman, Vince Crespin (who has already accepted a position with the The Rocky Mountain Collegian at Colorado State University), giving way to new Editor-in-Chief Rhea Boyd, who eagerly accepts the chance to fill the top position, as well editing the Living and Arts section.
The class of 2010 welcomes the Journal’s new group of senior editors with Lauren Abrams (News Editor), Scott Bruskin (Sports Editor), Jasmine Kabera (Community Editor), and Martha Alvarez (People Editor) – all former reporters. New to the staff and joining the editors is Rebecca Holt, who will serve as the Journal’s Photo Editor, a position formerly filled by photojournalist extraordinaire, Kevin Fleming, who leaves a legacy of excellence on which Holt plans to build her own career.
Also joining the management team – directly from Journalism Teacher Eileen Adair‘s Jeffersonian Magazine Staff – are Copy Editors Luke DeGregori and Anna Romero.
The Journal strives to provide students, TJ faculty, parents and guardians, and the community at large with timely updates on TJ events and sports, entertaining reviews, in-depth articles covering noteworthy people, and many more engrossing journalistic pieces. Each section has an impressive staff working hard to meet the Journal’s goals, including Feben Asfaw, Anna Becker, Chris Carter, Luke DeGregori, Jenny Holman, Michael Kutz, Heather Larson, Daniel Mardirosian, Mia Nogueira, Anna Romero, Zach Salas, Danté Velez, Keith Warren and Rachel Wilson. New articles will begin to be posted this week, and from that point on readers can tune in for fresh material every day. Be sure to bookmark the Journal and start each day with a healthy dose of Spartan info.
If anyone in the community would like to suggest an article for publication in the Journal, please contact Newspaper Teacher Matthew Spampinato, by email at spamp@tjjournal.com or Rhea Boyd at rboyd@tjjournal.com, or suggest article ideas to any one of the staff members as you see them, or at their designated email addresses.
