The 2019 homecoming spirit week brings unworldly excitement in the TJ community.
Homecoming week is here and as the amazing night approaches, the five days prior will be especially spectacular this year. As TJ’s Out of this World homecoming gets closer, leadership has planned an intergalactic theme for spirit week. Monday the 16th is Clone day (students should dress the same as someone else). Tuesday the 17th is Twinkle Tuesday (Spartans should dress in all sparkles and bright colors). After, Wednesday the 18th will be Area 51 Raid (students should wear tie dye to support the girls’ powderpuff game) and Thursday the 19th is Cowboys vs. Aliens themed (students should come prepared for a showdown). Finally, Friday the 20th will be TJ day (students should come to school in your best TJ gear).
Leadership member and junior Brynn Roberts has high hopes for this year’s spirit week and encourages all to join. “Don’t care about what you wear, we are all just going to have fun and participate in spirit week.” One of the leadership teachers at TJ, Erin Thompson also encouraged all of TJ to dress up, as coming up with the themed days took, “ …days and days of fighting back and forth about what they wanted the theme to be.” However, Thompson added that she is “very very excited for the spirit week this year.” TJ will start off the week’s festivities with the annual bonfire, which takes place on Monday in the parking lot at 7:00 p.m.. Following that, the Powderpuff football game will occur during lunch on Wednesday. In order to start homecoming weekend off right, TJ will end the week with the first pep assembly of the 2019-2020 school year at 2:00 p.m. in the gym. Finally, the week will come to a close with the homecoming football game. Come out at 7:00 p.m. and support our boys’ football team as the play against Fort Morgan Mustangs at All City Field.
As all await the magical night, leadership encourages everyone to go out of this world for this year’s spirit week.
