TJ is excited to debut their brand new winter social.
If bumpin’ and groovin’ to the latest jams floats your boat, then it sounds like The Polar Fest, Thomas Jefferson High School’s brand new winter dance, is the right thing for you to do on December 5, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Blue and white balloons, snowflake cutouts, and an icy cool DJ will contribute to the dance’s Winter Wonderland theme. The decorations will hopefully make the attendees feel as if they were in a winter storm, only the temperature will be slightly warmer than that since DJ AKSHUN (Kyler Jackson) will be spinning the latest jams to heat things up. “I am very exited to DJ at the Polar Fest. I think it’s an interesting new tradition at TJ and I’m honored to be the first DJ,” said DJ AKSHUN.
The dance will not be as formal as Homecoming or Eros, so fancy attire will not be required for this dance. This means that the ladies can stop worrying about the perfect dress and the guys can relax about which tie to wear. “Come as you want; there’s no formal attire,” said Senior Class President Rebecca Holt.
Student Council hopes that this casual attire will encourage students to attend the dance. “We wanted to come up with ways where the TJ students could have fun together and boost school pride, and we decided to have a Pep Rally and dance for every sport season,” said Senior and Student Council Representative Jared Lewis. “Hopefully half of the school will be present at the dance,” he added.
If a Spartan wants to bring an out-of-school date, the usual attendance process must take place. “All Spartans that want a out-of-school guest to attend the dance can come to either Ms. Hayhurst of my office to get a guest form. To complete the form, the signatures of the parents, and administrators from the guest school are necessary, as well as my signature,” said Student Advisor Mike Laurita. Also make sure to return the form to Derek Steffes, Treasurer, by December 2nd, the last day you can purchase your tickets.
Cookies and water will be provided at the dance, a sweet addition to the event. Even sweeter is the admission price: $5 for singles, and $7 for couples. Tickets go on sale on Monday November 30th at the Treasure’s Office, Spartans, so get yours before they are gone!
