Spartans send three to college on athletic scholarships
Spartan Seniors Aryn Grywusiewicz, Brennan Henry, and Billy Sprague all signed with colleges on February 3rd at TJ’s own ceremony. Grywusiewicz elected to sign with Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska. Henry signed with Garden City Community College located in Garden City, Kansas. And Sprague decided to sign with the Colorado School of Mines located in Golden, Colorado.
For Grywusiewicz, TJ’s best softball pitcher, this signing came with a sigh of relief. “I am happy that I have signed and can focus on the rest of this basketball season, as well as my Senior year in general.” As far as school next year is concerned, Grywusiewicz is excited. “Chadron is the perfect match for me; I get a very good vibe from it. The school is not too big and not too small. It’s perfect,” she said with a smile.
Henry, TJ’s returning ace pitcher who signed with Garden City Community College for baseball, can’t wait to begin. “This was a big step in my life and it’s good I was able to be signed to such a great place. I like the coaches a lot and I even got to meet some of the players. It was just a positive experience,” Henry said.
Sprague, who will be playing linebacker at the next level was pleased to sign with Colorado School of Mines. “I got a real close feel from them. The coaches are all very supportive of the players both academically and on the field. They want the players to be pushed in order to get a full college experience. I especially like the strength coach because he likes active weight training as opposed to the traditional brute strength training,” Sprague said.
Both Sprague and Grywusiewicz are sill in season now as they are each playing their secondary sports of basketball. Henry will begin pitching for the TJ baseball team when their season begins in the Spring.
