Lil’ Wayne to come and set the mic ablaze in TJ gym this afternoon.
Word up Spartans! Thanks to Bill Gates, the EXELerator Grant and a lot of luck, TJ will be treated to a special surprise appearance by Rap star Lil’ Wayne today, April 1st 2009.
Thomas Jefferson, one of four EXELerator grant schools within the state, and in a group of 18 nationally, was entered into a specialized raffle rewarding outstanding high school attendance ratings. Of the 18 schools that reached an 85% overall attendance rate, TJ was eligible for the prize concert. The same company that produces the wildly popular Spring Board curriculum books now also is responsible for providing this one-time reward. The company, which is sponsored by Bill Gates, will finance the performance, making it totally free of charge.
Performing his latest hits as well as some of his past chart toppers, “Weezy” will be performing in the TJ gym during the school day, today, April 1. Making his debut in front of what is sure to be a packed house, the world renown rapper will be playing such musical classics as Lollipop, Stuntin’ Like My Daddy, Go DJ, and Got Money. The show will be completely family-friendly, featuring heavy radio edits suitable for TJ’s Freshman class. The show will start at 2:00 pm following a school-wide telecom announcement, and will continue as long as the adoring fans will stay (or until 3pm). Mr. Wayne will stick around briefly to sign autographs and pose for pictures.
“We are excited to have Lil’ Wayne come. We are a bit nervous about the lyrics, but thanks to the EXELerator Program and Lil’ Wayne we will have one heck of a show in honor of our students’ attendance,” said Assistant Principal Scott Lessard.
Lil’ Wayne, lauded for his work in childrens’ education, will be performing after the completion of his latest tour, and is sure to put on a show that Thomas Jefferson High School will never remember. But don’t be fooled, TJ…this will be an April show stopper!
