The boys took the field on a wonderful afternoon Saturday; however, the sun was the only bright spot of the day, as the Spartans fell 4-0.

The boys sent Junior Kyle Freeland to the mound, and he had a decent outing, allowing four runs, only two of those earned over a four inning stretch. Freeland was relieved in the middle of his fifth inning of work by Senior Brennan Henry who pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless work with three strike outs on the side.

Offensively, however, the boys struggled against the tough Bruin pitching, as they were not able to notch a single hit the entire game. Senior D’shawn Turner and Junior Grant Maloney did each steal a base. “It’s never good to spoil great pitching performances, but I’m not concerned. We know we can hit, and we will just keep working hard every day,” said Turner.

The Spartans will next play on Wednesday, March 17 when they take on the Montbello Warriors. The game will start at 4:15 and will be played at Spartan field.
