Although TJ put forward a good effort, they just came up short. The Spartans ran Junior Kyle Freeland out to the mound to face a tough Mustang lineup. After pitching a scoreless first, Freeland took the ball in the second with a 0-0 tie. That score would soon balloon as the Mustangs scored at least two runs for the next four consecutive innings, chasing Freeland who finished with 4 innings pitched, allowing five earned runs, while surrendering nine hits. The lone bright spot was that Freeland recorded seven strike outs.

Offensively, the Spartans were no hit once again. “That was a tough game. Sometimes you just have to give it to them. Their pitcher pitched a good game,” said Senior Chris Needham. “We really need to bounce back on Friday,” he added.

The Spartans will next be in action on Friday, April 16, when they take on the West Cowboys. The game will be played at West, and will begin at 4:15 pm.
