In its second year, the Thomas Jefferson Future Center has already helped countless students succeed in the college application process. With a wide variety of resources and services available, the Future Center, (located in room 114) offers comprehensive assistance to students applying for College.
New Future Center Coordinator Tabitha Rocha has set out a long list of resources and services available this year, along with friendly and personal service. “A big goal this year is definitely to get more freshmen and sophomores in here. The earlier you start planning the better,” said Rocha, who was formerly a counselor at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins; this is her first year at TJ.
This year the Future Center will include resources such as college catalogs, career information, financial aid applications, scholarship info, internship programs, and more. Services that will be available this year include assistance with completing college applications, career exploration, scheduling in-school and out-of-school college visits, ACT/SAT preparation, and more. The Future Center is truly the information hot spot for the college bound.
Also available through the Future Center this year is the Denver Scholarship Foundation, an organization that inspires and empowers DPS students to achieve their post high school goals by providing the tools, knowledge, and financial resources needed for success. The DSF will benefit students in many ways, from scholarship award opportunities to helping students get over financial obstacles. “The DSF will guarantee a strong backbone for the Future Center this year,” said Rocha.
With a brand new coordinator and countless new features, the Future Center is the TJ student’s ultimate source for any of their post-high school needs.
