Lady Spartans get shut out in loss.
The girls’ soccer team was down and out Monday night as the girls of Rampart shut out the Spartans 4-0.
After coming off a big win over South High School, the girls’ apparent lack of enthusiasm proved to be deadly as Rampart put three in the net early on. “The team just didn’t come to play. Girls got dehydrated, and some seemed to be having trouble breathing,” said Senior Forward Robin Emerson.
As shots paraded in on goal, the girls found themselves overwhelmed by a suffocating Rampart offense. The 4-3-1 Rams showed their offensive aggressiveness once again after already beating some of the better teams in the league (Pueblo South 6-1-1).
This loss gives the Lady Spartans a record of 3-2-1. “This is undoubtedly one of the better starts we’ve had as a team, possibly the best in the four years I’ve been here,” said Emerson, who remains hopeful of the possibility of a winning season.
This should be only a minor setback as the girls look to take on Denver North High School at North on Wednesday, April 8, at 4 p.m.
