The Girls’ Soccer team plays Bear Creek, losing 7-0, however defeats Kennedy in a 2-0 shut out.
On Thursday, April 14th, the Lady Spartan Soccer Team took on Bear Creek High School at TJ, coming up short to Bear Creek’s skill, and losing 7-0.
The girls struggled with containing the ball and had a difficult time defending Bear Creek’s intense offense, allowing them to score five goals within the first half. “Once again, our team came out with a lack of intensity in the first half,” said Senior Captain and Defender Lauren Jorgensen. “We always manage to come back harder in the second half.”
And the girls certainly did. In the second half, the Lady Spartans appeared to be an entirely new team. With a major change in the lineup, the girls managed to start gaining possession of the ball and began to overwhelm Bear Creek. Although the girls did not score, they managed to only allow the opposing team to score two more goals, and without the team’s starting goalie, Rachael Newman.
The following day, the girls traveled to Kennedy High School, with the same lineup that was created in the previous game against Bear Creek. The new lineup seemed to work well for the Spartans, as they came out with a win of 2-0. Sophomore Braelah McGinnis and Senior Rachael Newman, who normally plays in goal, scored the two goals.
The girls play again tonight against Montbello right here at TJ at 4:00 p.m. Be sure to get out there and help support the Lady Spartans.
