On January 7th, the Lady Spartans took a trip down to D’Evelyn to challenge the Jaguars for their 8th game of the year.

With  Junior star Emily Cordes returning back from surgery, the Spartans came out on the court looking refreshed, strong and focused. “Emily is a great leader and we are very excited to have her back. She is a key addition to our team and we have missed her talent on the court,” said Head Coach Steve Thomas.

Thomas Jefferson had trouble holding on to the ball coming off the boards, and gave up key turnovers throughout the game. “ We need to work on our rebounding and turnovers. If we can control the ball for the majority of the games, we will be golden,” stated Thomas.

The Lady Spartans lost to the Jaguars 88 – 36.

The girls’ next game is against Burlington in the Yuma tournament today.

“ We have a chance to prove ourselves. We have had tough competition in the beginning of the season and it is looking a little easier now for a win. We have 14 games left and I am glad we have gotten the harder of the teams out of the way early, which gets us ready for our league play,” explained Thomas.
