The Photo Club’s digital home highlights some of the photos from the groups excursions, details each trip, and provides information about the club, such as meeting times and where the meeting will be taking place. “It’s just a way for the Photo Club to get their pictures out there so that people can see them, and a way to stir up more interest in Photo Club; it’s just a matter of visibility. Because of the nature of the Communication Technology program it’s important that we have a really strong online presence for all aspects of the department,” said Coleman.

On the website, one will see the photos from the most recent excursion, a field trip to the city lights of downtown Denver. “On December 10th we went down in the evening and did a shoot downtown of all the holiday lights at Union Station, 16th Street Mall, and the City and County Building,” said Coleman.

The Photo Club had a slow start last year but has now seen a rise in attendance, and club activities. “I think it is going to gradually grow and we can be more of a factor,” stated Coleman. “It gives you an opportunity to interact with more photographers, a chance to learn more about your craft, and a good way to expand your notion of what possible subject matter might be.”

The club has taken two photo excursions this year, downtown to photograph the city lights, and an early morning shoot right outside the Museum of Nature and Science to photograph the Denver skyline.

“We hold meetings about every other week and we plan different excursions where we can go out with each other and take pictures of various things such as landscapes. We have Mr. Coleman there to help us fix our cameras and take pictures,” said Co-President Marelle Davey.

Photo Club is made up of 15 strong photographers. “Photo Club is one of the most amazing clubs to join for young, budding photographers. Mr. Coleman, the advisor, is a great guy who knows how to help students and further their photography skills,” said Junior Maddi Doro.

“On top of being a creative atmosphere,” Davey says, “Photo Club is very welcoming. During the meetings everyone has an equal opportunity to speak.” Each meeting is run by Co-Presidents Madison Bennet and Marelle Davey. The meetings are well organized by the club members, for the club members. “The best part about Photo Club is that it is really laid back,” said Davey.

Photo Club also has plans to sell their photography. Matted photographs will be sold for $35. “They will be displayed in the main office and an online site where they can be viewed and purchased ,” said Coleman.

All interested photographers or new photographers are welcome at the meetings. Time and place for all meetings are posted on the Photo Club web page which can be found at http://tj-photoclub.wikispaces.com/.
