On Saturday, March 10th, the boys’ hoop squad played Wasson High School in the first game of the Great 8 at the Denver Coliseum. The Spartans couldn’t pull off the upset and sadly lost 60-48.
Wasson got out to the early lead and never looked back. With multiple turnovers the Spartans fought hard and pulled to within five points after three quarters. Wasson, one of the best defensive teams in the state, held the boys to only ten points in the fourth quarter and came up with clutch free throws to ice the game.
Junior Treyvon Andres led all scoring with 15 points and six rebounds, along with Senior Cameron Brown who scored 10. The season has come to a close, but our TJ Hoop Squad has definitely shown us what it means to be Spartans. Finishing with a record of 18-8, the Spartans return six players for next year’s campaign behind Treyvon Andres and looks to continue TJ basketball dominance.
