Girls Hoops are back on the court for a new year.

Spartans had a very busy week, playing three games. On Friday January 11th they beat Aurora Central 49-32 at home; on Monday January 14th they lost to Rock Canyon 76-20; and to top of the week on Wednesday January 16th the Spartans played a league game, beating the South rebels 59-16.

On Friday the girls got off to a quick lead against Aurora Central in the first home game back from break. The Spartans were up 25-15 in the first half and kept the lead all the way through the end of the game.  “Our girls played well and we just needed a win, so we got right to it,” said Coach Damion Allen.

On Monday the team took on the state-ranked Rock Canyon Jaguars in Highlands Ranch and couldn’t push through. The player of the game Essence Reece with 13 points. “They are not 50 points better than us; it was a frustrating game and we simply didn’t play our game,” she said.

On Wednesday, TJ played their first league game and demolished the host, Denver South Rebels in the first quarter; the girls were up 26-1 and didn’t give up for the rest of the game. “We  played hard and showed a lot of passion in our game,” said Coach Allen.

The rest of the games are league games for the girls, and the girls play Lincoln at home . “We’re ready to be league champs,” said Kessanet Negash.
