On Tuesday, March 19th, TJ hosted Harrison High School for a girls’ soccer match, which ended in a blowout for TJ.
TJ started off strong and kept up their intensity throughout the game. Harrison was no match for the quick passing from the Spartans. Within a few minutes, the Spartans took the lead and kept it. By the end of the first half, the score was 6-0.
Once the second half started, the Spartans scored three goals in the first 10 minutes. Once they scored their 10th goal, the game was finished due to the mercy rule, leaving the game scoreless for Harrison. “ We played really well and we kept possession of the ball most of the time,” said Senior Rachel Uyemura.
Junior Elina Laine scored three goals, Sophomores Quinn Roder and Marinah McGinnis each scored two goals, and Junior Stephany Marquez, Sophomore Kelly Cordes, and Senior Braelah McGinnis scored one goal. In addition, Freshman Sasha Mescopov had one assist, Marinah had one assist, and Braelah had three assists.
The girls will have their next game against the Lincoln Lancers on Thursday, March 21st at TJ. It is their first league game, so show your support!
