On March 21, the TJ girls’ soccer team faced the Lincoln Lancers in their first DPS League game of the year, and tied them 1-1.
The girls played a hard fought game against their rivals, and started off against the wind, making it hard to control the ball. After a corner kick, the Lancers took a 1-0 lead in the first half. Once the second half started, it was the Lancers who were against the wind and the Spartans were able to score their first and only goal. Freshman Blaise Hokkanen scored the single goal, it being her first for the soccer squad. “I basically just followed what my coaches told me and the goalie dropped the ball, like [Assistant Coach Jon] Poole said, so I kicked it right in. I was so excited because I had finally scored my first goal!” exclaimed Hokkanen.
The girls will have their next game against Vista PEAK Prep on Tuesday, April 2nd. It is an away game, so be sure to wish your Lady Spartans luck!
