The Ladies of TJ’s golf team begin their season strong.
The girls’ golf team started its season off by showing improvement in their skills and an increase in enthusiasm over last year in their first two meets of 2011.
The girls had their first two meets of the season – both 9 hole meets – and based on the girls’ spirit thus far and the scores from the matches, Head Coach Mark Smith says he is hopeful. “The first few meets are preliminary. My hopes for this year’s season are to see improvement and continue to improve throughout the season. I also want the girls to learn the game and hopefully the edict of the game,” said Smith.
The team did well in both of the first two match, with Chimi Youdon placing 5th in the second match. “The first two meets went really well. Everyone got out there and really enjoyed playing and competing. We seem better than we have been because most of us have played before and know what we need to work on,” said Senior Shauntay Larson.
Smith says he’s enjoying the season so far and is happy to see the team getting better and doing so well. “I’ve already seen an improvement over the last couple seasons. Most of the girls have a foundation from playing last year. The scores have been better because of the experience on the team. There has definitely been more enthusiasm on the team,” said Smith.
