In this article, I will explore different characters and celebrities that I want to see participate in the Hunger Games.
One of my favorite movie series since elementary school has been The Hunger Games. To recap, The Hunger Games follows the story of a girl named Katniss Everdeen and her journey to survive a corrupt government. Within this society, both children and adults are selected as tributes to fight in an arena to the death. The tributes are selected from a variety of 12 districts, with each district representing a necessity for survival such as fishing, lumber, and more. So, in honor of the new Hunger Games book, Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzan Collins, I would like to share the characters and celebrities I would nominate to be in the Hunger Games. I am providing a collage featuring photos of the characters and celebrities at the bottom of the article for reference.
To start off, I will be introducing the president, the announcers, the game maker, and the person who would reap (call the names of) the tributes, also known as the person that would play Effie’s role. After much deliberation, I have decided to make Preminger from Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper president because he was a very devious character. Due to his desire to rule the kingdom, he would construct the most creative plans. If he was president, he would be a powerful figure that everyone would be too scared to stand up against. For the announcers, I have picked Brittany Broski and Melissa McCarthy. Individually, both of these women are hilarious, but together, they would be the funniest commentators for the games. Both Broski and McCarthy would be able to lighten the mood of the games slightly and create a more enriching and funny viewing for those in the Capital. One of the easiest decisions I made was choosing Sue Sylvester from Glee to be gamemaker. She is a character that shows no remorse for her actions and speaks her mind no matter how cruel the words may be. If Sylvester was the gamemaker, she would come up with some of the most creative arenas and ways to kill the tributes. Lastly, I would pick Trisha Paytas to reap the tributes. Similar to Effie, she dresses up in some of the most extravagant outfits and cares deeply about fashion. She would have a lot of fun dressing up for events, even if this means she is picking children to fight to death in an arena.
Now, moving on to the districts, I will introduce them in groups of four. For District One, which specializes in luxury, I have decided to nominate Sharpay Evans from High School Musical and Kris Jenner. Both of these women are very rich and don’t ever stray from the lavish lifestyle that they live, so it would be very entertaining to watch them in the arena due to the fact they probably do not have any survival skills. For District Two, masonry, I nominate Bob the Builder and Fix It Felix because both of these characters specialize in working with tools and building contraptions. In The Hunger Games, they would survive for a while because they would be able to create a shelter for themselves. For District Three, technology, I have nominated Closet from Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse and the spy kids. Closet is an intelligent robot, and he would be able to calculate what he needs to survive. As for the spy kids, they have a supply of numerous gadgets that they use to help them on missions, so they would be able to replicate something similar to those items to help them in the arena. For District Four, fishing, I decided to nominate Merliah Summers from Barbie in a Mermaid Tale and the Octonauts. If these characters were put into an arena that involved any sort of ocean or body of water, they would have the largest advantage, because they are not only skilled swimmers in the water, but they know more about the ocean and life underwater than most people.
Moving on to the next four districts, for District Five, which specializes in power, I nominate Abby Lee Miller from Dance Moms and Regina George from Mean Girls. Both of these women already hold ample control over the people they are around. However, due to the two being from a district that supplies all of Panem (the name of the country within The Hunger Games) with power and utilities, they would be able to manipulate those in the arena in order to guarantee their survival. For District Six, transportation, I have chosen the conductor from The Polar Express and Elphaba from Wicked. The conductor is a very smart and tactical character, I hypothesize he would be able to outwit the other tributes in the arena. Similarly, I believe Elphaba is one of the most intellectual characters in the arena, but seeing her flying around on a broom that she created would also be hilarious. For District Seven, lumber, I chose the Lorax and Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy because they both have a deep connection to nature. As a result, both individuals would thrive in a forest or jungle arena. Also, Groot can easily defeat other tributes by using his branches to fight them off. For District Eight, textiles, I chose Edna Mode from The Incredibles and RuPaul. Both of these people use the craziest materials to create some of the most beautiful and lavish outfits and costumes. If they were in an arena, they would focus more on their clothing and how to make their outfits more chic instead of trying to survive, which would make the watch all the more entertaining.
Finally, the nominees for the last four districts: for District Nine, which specializes in grain, I chose Gordon Ramsay and Remy, the rat from Ratatouille. Due to both of them being outstanding chefs, they would be able to survive in the arena for a long time because they would know how to use their resources to make meals, so they would not starve to death like some of the other tributes might. For District Ten, livestock, I decided to nominate Shaun the Sheep and Hammy from Over the Hedge. Shaun the Sheep is a very intelligent character, and he would outsmart all of the other tributes because no one would suspect that a sheep has any tricks up his sleeve. Although Hammy is a bit of a chaotic choice, I believe that once he finds the motivation to do something, he is unstoppable; he is also a funny character in general so he would be entertaining to watch. For District Eleven, agriculture, I nominate Beyonce and Mr. Beady from Back at the Barnyard. I chose Beyonce because she recently came out with her first ever country album, so she will truly embrace the cowboy lifestyle when she enters the arena. As for Mr. Beady, I don’t know much about him, but he became famous for giving sass to his wife in one of the episodes of the show, so he would be engaging to the audience and hilarious to watch. Last but not least, for District Twelve, mining, I chose Zoolander and Steve from Minecraft. Zoolander has no survival instincts, but he would be able to kill people with his good looks. As for Steve, he clearly knows how to mine and how to use his resources well, so he would survive the longest and possibly even be the winner of the games.
While each of these characters and celebrities possess their own unique prowess, The Hunger Games demands strategic thinking, resilience, and the ability to forge alliances, qualities that some of these characters don’t have. In total, this is what would make this lineup so amusing to view. Ultimately, this was a fun article to write and I hope it was delightful to read.
