Crumbl Cookies have become increasingly popular, especially as the store’s rotating flavors are featured and reviewed on social media, but this popularity does not reflect quality.
Crumbl Cookie is a large chain cookie restaurant which features a weekly rotating menu of cookie flavors and cakes. Because of the rotating menu, “Crumbl Cookie reviews” are often on social media where the weekly flavors are ranked. Despite their growing popularity and social media appeal, Crumbl Cookies are outrageously expensive and their taste consistently falls short of expectations.
Crumbl was founded in Logan, Utah in 2017 by Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley and has grown to over 1,000 locations as of 2025 with a two billion dollar value. Following the massive success of the franchise, other cookie companies have also gained popularity including, Crave Cookies and Insomnia Cookies. Crumbl Cookies are sold in packs of one, four, six, and twelve as well as mini cookies sold in packs of three, six, and twelve. Crumbl stores not only sell desserts, but drinks including their own brand of bottled water and a cookie themed card game.
The success of the franchise is admirable for such a young company, however, Crumbl Cookies are very expensive. One standard cookie costs $4.99 before tax and this price slightly decreases for packs. A three pack of mini cookies costs $9.99 before tax and each cake costs more than a standard cookie. Crumbl Cookies are not worth the cost because as mentioned previously, their taste and quality does not meet the expectations warranted by the price and popularity on social media.
The base of most every Crumble Cookie flavor is the same and consistently lacks flavor and the frosting on each cookie is typically way too sweet. These cookies are not enjoyable to eat because of the imbalance of frosting to cookies and the overwhelming sugar content of the frosting. The most concerning aspect of the sugar content of Crumbl Cookies are not the flavor, but the nutrition facts, which are available on the Crumbl website. The classic milk chocolate chip cookie available at Crumbl has over 700 calories, 30 grams of fat, 200 milligrams of sodium, and almost 50 grams of sugar. As if this weren’t alarming enough, Crumbl has offered a Candy Cane Brownie cookie containing over 1,200 calories. The recommended calorie intake for an adult ranges from 1,600 to almost 3,000 calories per day. One cookie making up more than half of one’s daily calorie intake seems like a difficult task for something so quickly consumed.
Reviews of Crumbl Cookie’s weekly flavors can be found on social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and others and typically gain lots of interaction. The appeal of these videos does not, however, change my opinion that Crumbl Cookies taste far too poor and are far too unhealthy to be worth the substantial amount of money they are sold for. No cookie should cost over five dollars and account for over half of my advised calorie intake for any given day.
