This season there will be three teams including C-team, Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels. The Spartans 2011-2012 season ended with a close loss in the third round to Pueblo Central 51-49. The boys’ hope to improve on a 12-14 record where they had the toughest schedule in all of Colorado at the 4A/5A level.
Heading into his tenth season as Head Coach, Grant Laman is quite enthusiastic about the upcoming season as he has seven returning varsity players to help lead the way. “We had a tough schedule last year, but had a good playoff run missing the elite eight with only a two-point loss. With seven returning varsity players we hope to make another deep playoff run,” states Laman.
TJ has an enormous tradition for basketball and has won state Championships in both 2005 and 2006 under Laman. With an important DPS schedule, this year proves to be one of the toughest for the Spartans and if successful would put them into consideration as one of the top teams in the state. The boys’ start their season with the Boulder Valley Invitational on December, 5.
