TJ Basketball Silences South

The TJ hoops squad defeats the South Rebels handily on Friday, February 4^th.

The Thomas Jefferson Basketball team took on the South Rebels on friday night at South’s Pack-the-House Night, coming out on top with a final score of 65-49.

The Spartans came out of the gates with a fury of scoring and never looked back. TJ put up points fast, scoring 15 in the first quarter before South found themselves on the scoreboard. Passions were high in this game and the Spartans came to the court with something to prove, and a chip on its shoulder after a devastating loss to South at TJ’s Homecoming football game. The Spartans’ dominance was evident early in the game with some powerful dunks and blocked shots by Miles McIntosh, Nate Brewer, and Treyvon Andres.

The Spartans led for the entire game and never looked back. Main contributors to TJ’s scoring were Eric Andres and Sir Michael Boston who put up 28 points combined. Andres was strong under the basket with many offensive rebounds and put-backs, which led to most of his points. Boston was able to duck and dive his way to the basket in key moments to put up 10 points. Senior Ian Melnicoe said about the game, “This is the way we need to come into every game. When we get an early lead and stick to our game plan, we can beat any team.”

Next up the Spartans take on yet another DPL team in the Montbello Warriors. The Spartans will be the away team in this one and the game will be on Thursday, February 10^th at 7:00 p.m. They hope to improve their DPL record to 3-2, so make sure to catch the action Spartans.
