Chairwoman of the Beautification Committee, Karen Swehdin, spent her fall break redecorating the community room.
“We are grateful to the parents that put in this effort for our school,” said Principal Sandra Just.
Room 108 is used for TJ Partners’ meetings, tutoring, student forums, testing and administrative meetings.
The walls in room 108 have been painted brown and gold to create a sense of school pride in TJ’s community and as a way of welcoming people who use the room. “The parents of the committee showed concern about beautifying the school. They targeted room 108 because they wanted community meetings to feel warm and inviting,” Just said.
Karen Swehdin, and two other TJ moms, created the beautification committee to help improve TJ’s image. The committee got underway in August before school started by painting the security gate in the front hall.
“My son, Mason, had a swim meet at North last year and when we were walking to the pool we noticed the school colors displayed everywhere and it really looked nice,” said Swehdin. “I wanted to help TJ by creating the committee.”
Room 108 now is shining brown and gold and will not be the last project for TJ’s Beautification Committee. “Right now we are exploring things we can actually help the school with,” said Swehdin.
