The girls competed against Littleton High School in their first game of the season on Thursday, March 8th.  “The girls looked good for the most part,” said Head Coach Sara Andolsek.  The final score of the game was 5-0. “It was the first game and we learned what we needed to fix for our next game against Rangeview.”

On Tuesday, March 13th, the TJ Girls’ Soccer Team faced Rangeview High School in their second game of the season.  The game was on Spartan turf, but the girls couldn’t pull of the win.  Even though they lost, Andolsek was positive, saying,  “The girls looked great.”  They ended the first half with a score of 3-1, with the solo goal scored by Freshman Quinn Roder.  Not only was it Roder’s first goal of her soccer career at TJ, but it was also the squad’s first goal of the season.  The second half was tough for the girls as Rangeview got in three more goals, ending with a score of 6-1.  “This game proved that by mid-season, if not earlier, we’ll look like a great team,” said Andolsek.

The next day the girls played Elizabeth High School at Elizabeth, when they recorded their first win with a score of 4-2.  In the first half Elizabeth scored two goals and Junior Braelah McGinnis scored TJ’s first goal of the game. “Scoring felt great. It helps give me the confidence that I can help my team win and be successful,” said McGinnis.

The second half the girls kept the other team from scoring and added three more goals to their side of the scoreboard.  McGinnis scored again, and Freshman Kelly Cordes scored the other two goals.  Andolsek says that even though it was their first win, it was a tough win.  “The girls were sore from the Rangeview game, but they came together to get their first win.”

The win against Elizabeth boosted the girls’ confidence for their next game against Lincoln on Thursday, March 22.  “Beating Elizabeth gave our team confidence and we all began to see our potential show,” said McGinnis.
