The TJ hoop squad fell to both Aurora Central and Highlands Ranch as they soon begin league play.

On Wednesday, January 9th the Spartans took on Highlands Ranch High School. Both teams were coming off victories in the Cherry Creek Tournament over break and hoped for a good start to 2013. Sadly, the boys fell by only 2 points losing 60-58. Senior Eric Andres led the Spartans, scoring 16 points. “We played a great game and should have won. Down the stretch we need to be more disciplined and conscience of fouls and time,” stated Senior Deondre Thompson.
The boys’ were hoping to rebound after a tough loss, going up against Aurora Central on Friday, the 11th. The hoop squad fell behind early and couldn’t muster up a comeback, falling 81-65. Junior Treyvon Andres led all scoring with 24 points. “Some calls went against us, but we need to preserver through adversity and come out even stronger,” said Junior Joshua Witter. These two games left the Spartans with a season record of 8-4. Their next game is Monday, January 14, against Rock Canyon High School at TJ. Be sure to come out and support your fellow Spartans.
